Objectives of the study programme specialization Logistics of Transport

The study of this specialization results from the current developments in the field "management of material transport"– logistics. It is possible to apply means of modern computer technologies including software and modern operating methods such as network analyses, multiproduct flows, vector optimization, genetic algorithms etc., in the management of material transport.

The goal of the study is to teach students utilize these modern technologies in managing transport flows both within the country and abroad, teach them to ensure the required transport reliably, which is one of the decisive terms mainly in international trade, and to ensure other accompanying services connected with transport (logistic services). Students are educated to be able to apply those means in small and medium sized companies engaged in transport of goods. They may also work in firms and institutions with higher number of transport means and in dispatch departments of manufacturing firms.

Scope of the Final State Exams

The Final State Exam consists of Bachelor thesis defence and oral exam. The oral exam includes two compulsory subjects; the third subject is opted out of assigned professional subjects.

The graduate's profile

The graduate gains theoretical knowledge and practical skills for goods transportation management, forwarding services, customs administration, business operations in domestic and international transport.
In his/her professional specialization the student gains knowledge and practical skills in precepts of law as well as technical standards, legal enactments for particular means of transport, both national and international. The graduate is familiar with tariff systems, tariff and price formation in transport. He/she is trained to practically solve the problems of transport logistics and transport systems. He/she comprehends the principles of warehouse management, goods packaging, and usage of handling and mechanisation equipment. The graduate masters the customs procedures, and he/she is able to solve the procedures practically, he/she is able to offer consulting services in this area. He/she has the necessary knowledge of information technologies, including e-commerce technologies. He/she fulfils the criteria for cooperation with foreign partners, as well as for European Union professionals.

Labour market

The graduates work as independent professionals in industrial and trading companies dealing with haulage and connected services, or as entrepreneurs in haulage and customs services. They can also hold the posts of traffic dispatchers, customs agents, combined functions in sales departments in companies, posts of logisticians in logistic centres.
